WELCOME FROM WMB2008

We would like to welcome you to participate at the international meeting entitled Regional Meeting  On Water In The Mediterranean Basin which will take place within the dates 09-11 October 2008, at the Near East University within the framework of the 5th World Water Forum.

Water  is one of the most important elements for the sustainability of life on earth. Impacts of climate change  in water resources as well as worldwide problems like scarcity, conservation, sanitation and management of water resources have placed the water related issues on top of the international agenda.

Since Mediterranean Region is one of the regions to be affected most by the climate change worldwide, the meeting will focus on water problems in the Mediterranean Region.

The aim of this meeting will be to create a discussion forum where leading experts from countries around the world will discuss water related issues in the Mediterranean Basin with a view to provide a better understanding of the water problems, stimulate scientific discussion and develop policy-relevant approaches and analysis for decision-makers. Results of the Regional Meeting will be carried to the 5th World Water Forum to be held in Istanbul on March 2009.
